Starting Monday, June 29, 2020, at 8 a.m. the Port Colborne Community Bus will be resuming services for Port Colborne residents after a break in service since April 9, 2020, due to COVID-19.
The Community Bus, operated by Welland Transit, will be running in Port Colborne from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Mondays – Fridays. Riders will return to front door boarding and will be required to pay the $3 fare. As City Hall, located at 66 Charlotte Street, remains closed due to COVID-19, riders will be unable to purchase tickets are asked to use exact change when paying their fare.
Niagara Region Transit, which includes the Port Colborne Link, is continuing to operate on their Saturday schedule, which is an hourly frequency Monday – Saturday.

Riders will notice throughout the month of June that buses are being retrofitted with Plexiglas bio barriers to better protect drivers and riders, promote social distancing, and to allow for the return of front door boarding.
Both Niagara Region Transit and Welland Transit will continue to restrict the number of passengers on its vehicles in an effort to support physical distancing. However, as the province moves into the next phase of recovery, ridership will continue to increase. Therefore, in alignment with Provincial guideless and the advice of Public Health, it is strongly recommended that all passengers wear face coverings while using public transit. Transit providers continue to sanitize their conventional and specialized transit vehicles on a regular basis.

Port Colborne Transit
The City of Port Colborne has contracted with Welland Transit to operate their transit system effective March 31, 2008.
In 2013, the Community Bus East Route was changed to include a stop at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre and the West Route changed to accommodate service close to Food Basics.
Port Colborne's transit service is comprised of a local community bus which operates within Port Colborne from 7 am - 6 pm Monday to Friday. The link service to Welland provides 6 trips, Monday to Saturday, between the two communities.
The link service, which started in October 2007, has been enhanced to include stops at the Seaway Mall and the Welland Transit Terminal. Another enhancement to the service is a revamped fare structure that will allow riders to use Welland Transit Econo and Monthly passes for both systems. This will make for a more seamless system that will encourage ridership, provide for more affordable access to employment in both communities and help both cities with their commitment to help the environment. The addition of Regional Transit has enabled the City and Region to increase the service from 3 trips to 6 trips, Monday to Saturday.
The Port Colborne Community bus and the link service will operate 12 months per year, excluding Sundays and Statutory Holidays.
Econopasses can be purchased at the Seaway Mall, Welland Transit and City Hall, Port Colborne.
Please visit the Welland Transit web site http://welland.ca/transit for more information.
